Privacy Policy for Zugzwang

Zugzwang is an alarm clock app developed for Android. This policy explains what data the app handles and, just as importantly, what it does not.
Summary
Zugzwang does not collect, transmit, or share any of your data. It has no internet access, no analytics, no ad networks, and no account system. Everything the app stores stays on your device, in a local database, and is only accessible to the app itself.
Data Stored on Your Device
To function, Zugzwang stores the following information locally on your device only:
- Alarms — the times, repeat schedules, and settings you configure
- Puzzle solve history — a log of chess puzzles you’ve attempted, so the app can track your stats and streaks
- Puzzle progress — which puzzles you’ve already solved, so the app can avoid repeating them
None of this data ever leaves your device. The app has no server, makes no network requests, and cannot transmit this data anywhere.
Permissions Used
Zugzwang requests the following Android permissions, all of which are required for it to work as an alarm clock:

| Ignore battery optimizations | To prevent the OS from delaying or killing the alarm |
None of these permissions are used to collect or share personal data — they exist solely to make sure your alarm reliably rings and wakes your device.
Third-Party Services
Zugzwang does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. It does not integrate with Firebase, Google Analytics, or any similar service.
Children’s Privacy
Zugzwang does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information at all.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL with a revised “Last updated” date.
